UALA LUMPUR: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) today urged the government to speed up the process of establishing a conciliation council for the public sector to facilitate discussions between Cuepacs and the government.
Its president Datuk Azih Muda said it is important for the government to establish a mechanism to allow for discussions between Cuepacs and the government on the many issues faced by civil servants today.
“Cuepacs still believes that a negotiation process is more important, successful and convincing.
“We should not use pressure tactics as we know that such an action will not benefit anyone,” he said at the Cuepacs Hari Raya Open House at the CIDB Convention Centre here today.
He added that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his support for establishment of a conciliation council during the 27th Cuepacs Convention in December last year.
